“Sterling” is a class horse that will get you noticed in any ring. Tall, thick and drop dead gorgeous, you don’t find TBs built like this often.

Sterling has a strong dressage foundation with rated dressage miles.  He is schooling 1st/2nd level dressage at home. He also competed in the 2023 TB Makeover finishing 8th of 82 horses in dressage.

Sterling has miles at local CT shows up to Starter and has shown up to 2’6” jumpers. He has also been schooled cross country and has competed in a mini trial at the iconic Kentucky Horse Park.  He is happiest when jumping and we think he will make a great hunter/jumper/eventing prospect! He already has changes that are near auto!

He loads, clips, cross ties, stands for grooming, farrier and bathing. ​ Sterling would do best with an experienced amateur in a program.  He has experience as a lesson horse for advanced hunter/jumper students and has been a favorite lesson horse for my 13 year-old niece. He is a big horse and can be pushy if allowed; as such, he is not recommended as a first horse for an inexperienced adult or child.

 

He retired from the track in 2022 with a fractured splint in his left front which is fully healed and not anticipated to limit him. His biggest challenge is maintaining his front feet, which tend to have thin soles.  He is currently in front glue-on shoes and steel hinds. He is a mild cribber controlled with a collar.

​Sterling is lifetime registered with both USEF and USDF and limited-lifetime registered with USEA.  He will continue to gain experience in eventing and hunter/jumper shows for the summer of 2026.  As a graduate of New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program, he also comes with the benefit of a lifetime safety net and can be returned to the program at any time should the need arise.
